After struggling with alien subjects as well as two foreign languages(English, Chinese) for three semesters in Beijing, I got all the credit for the gradution and face new challenge.

Writing a thesis!!!

I feel awkward soon only by imagining writing a thesis. To make matters worse, I've got to wrtie it in foreign language.

Here is how I conclued for a thesis so far.
1. (of course) I had no idea about how to write a thesis. I was the last person who tried to find a adviser to my thesis.
2. SS(soon to be co-author of our book, which is the biggest project in 2008. I will talk about it later, many times!) told me that he would like to write about the strategic management, because there would exist much room to say unnecessary words to fill the space(Because we can refer to plenty of theories, models and exmaples to fill the SPACE)
This is the first reason I chose the strategic management. How innocent or stupid I am? (Actually, I am sort of interested in the strategic management and my advisor is realy cool professor. Later, SS chose the finance instead of the strategic management)
3. I had considered which language I should use. I conclued if I use English, I may write better output, because 1> my English is better than Chinese in terms of writing, 2> There are much more data about the strategic management in English than in Chinese. 3> If I write my thesis in English, every friend of mine can read and understand what I wrote(even if I doubt wheter any of them like to read). But, just few of them can understand it in Chinese.
Plus, a thesis in English can be understood all over the world, but a thesis in Chinese only can be understood in China.
4. When I asked my advisor if I can write my thesis in English, he said to me that It is 100% Okay. Oh, he is really great, haha...

After facing the fact that I had to read lots of reading material, the first thing came to my mind was "Compepetive Advantage" of Michael E. Porter. Despite the fact that I heard Five Forces and Value Chain so many times when I had the strategic management class last semester, I didn't touch his book yet. So, I ordered Competitive Advantage at Korean online bookstore and waited for SS(again!) to pick it for me when he returned to Korea.

I started to read Competitive Advantage from the very beginning of 2008. Even though it takes me 9 days to finish reading this book, I found it very interesting. This book is really like "The art of War"(
孫子兵法) in 20th century.  I wanted to quote several sentences from the book, but it might not well mean original meaning, separated from the context.
Only by reading this book, I was already paid off in writing a thesis. Still, I am expecting great works from brillant minds.

# Next articles will be about Wonderful Chinese restaurant, which specialize in fish and Warren buffett. I can't wait to go to Chinese restaurant tomorrow!
