Today, I went to the campus first in 2008, because it was very hard to have focused on study at home. In library, I usually stand up once in 2 hours, but at home once in less than 5 minutes. Also, I wanted to go to the hospital in the campus to see how my cold was going.
The apartment complex I have lived is called Dongwangzhung. It is one of the oldest in the neighborhood as you can see. There is Beijing Foresty University, just opposite of the apartment complex
Fruit vendor where I buy orange, apple and so on.
When I first buy fruit at new fruit vendor, I usually ask prices and pretend to haggle with new fruit vendor so that I can be regarded as price-sensitive person. (In fact, I really don't care about prices of fruit in China, because they are already too cheap, compared with prices in Korea)
Then, I don't haggle with fruit vendor after that. To my surprise, I found out that some fruit vendors found that I was not very price sensitive and willing to pay high price for good fruit and they tried to rip me off by offering high price. So, I came up with a dual-vendor starategy which means I buy fruit at least from two fruit vendors. She, in this photo, is only the one person who didn't try to rip me off among several fruit vendors.
In China, here are really many many magazines and newspapers.
There are two buses going to
the Peking University. One is 110, the other is 355 which is always
crowed with passengers. Today, 355 came first and I took it. Guess how crowded it was?
It didn't disappoint me. This bus is always packed with passengers.
After Arriving at the bus stop, I enter eastsouth gate. Just beside eastsouth gate, we have a ping-pong stadium for 2008 Olympic Games. Actually, there are also several stadiums for 2008 Olympic Games in other universities. This is no wonder if we consider the fact that most universities are state-owned.
But, how about basketball or tennis stadium in our school? A ping-pong stadium doesn't look very useful for students.
This is Peking University Centennial Auditorium. Lots of musical performance are held in here, such as Ballet from Russia, Kunju and Jazz consert. Last december, I happened to have the chance to see "Swan Lake" and it was really fantastic.
Here is one thing I don't really understand.
Students can see movies here and the ticket only costs one fifth of the normal price at the movie theater. I am really wondering how the auditorim get the film.
There is newsstand beside ICBC and I check this place at least once a week. This place sells lots of past magazines and newspapers, such as Time, Newsweek, Economist, Fortune, Financial Times, WSJ, even National Geographic! My favorite are Fortune and WSJ. I think Economist is a really great magazine, but it takes me too much time to read. Fortune and WSJ are more interesting and easier to read than Economist and Financial times. There does exist the difference between American way and European way.
After a cold was gone, I still have a sore throat. There were really lots of people waiting for seeing a doctor in the hostpital as I am told in TV that many people caught cold in Beijing.
Whenever I caught a cold, I have a sore throat. I guess this is partly due to air pollution in Beijing, because I never heard a sore throat when I had worked in Qingdao. Oh, speaking of which, I miss Qingdao so much.
After the hospital, I went to student restaurant to have DaoXiaoMian.
Oh, DaoXiaoMian was so good. Can you believe that this cost me only 4RMB?
Passing by basket ball court
And the sky was so blue today.
Entering the library
Many students were studying hard to prepare for the final exam.
I have been reading "Competitive Advantage" of Michael E. Porter for preparing for the thesis. This is really great book and can be called the classic without any doubt. I will talk about this book soon.
